Caproin’s journey began in 1984, driven by the forward-looking vision of Humberto Sánchez and Jorge Hernández. Together, they formed the perfect mechanism, transmitting the strength needed to propel this engineering company and its collaborators forward. Discover Caproin’s trajectory in Colombia and beyond.
While multiple historical events unfolded around the world, engineers Humberto Sánchez and Jorge Hernández set out to launch a joint project: Caproin, a Colombian company dedicated to providing comprehensive engineering solutions to the country’s industries.
At that time, Communist China was beginning to reform its economic structure, shifting away from Maoist dogmatism. In Latin America, El Salvador, Panama, Uruguay, and Guatemala saw the end of their dictatorial regimes.
Meanwhile, in Colombia, the country was facing the consequences of drug trafficking and armed conflict. Amid these challenges, cyclist Lucho Herrera brought a moment of national pride by becoming the first Latin American to win a stage in the Tour de France.
Forty years ago, when Caproin was founded, the minimum wage in Colombia was COP 11,298, and the market exchange rate stood at COP 113.89 per US dollar. Looking back at these figures highlights how much time has passed—40 years of industrial, economic, and social growth. And Caproin has been there every step of the way.
The Beginning of This Story
According to its founders, Caproin was born from their ability to establish connections in countries like the United States and import equipment to serve the national industry. They already had the knowledge—only the company was missing.
Built on a foundation of trust and camaraderie, Sánchez and Hernández launched the company without cell phones, WhatsApp, or email; back then, communication relied on fax or certified mail. Their main goal was to drive business forward.
Over these first 40 years, the engineering company has weathered and overcome various storms, from global economic crises and currency fluctuations to rapid technological advancements. Innovation and continuous adaptation have been the guiding principles that have kept the company afloat and relevant in the market.
The Pride of Belonging
Caproin’s success is not only measured by financial results but also by the trust and loyalty of its clients, the dedication of its employees, and the respect of its competitors.
More than just a workplace for 23 people, Caproin fosters a company culture that drives change, positively impacting its employees, their families, and the broader community.
A Meaningful Celebration
At the end of 2024, Caproin gathered for a special event with clients and brand representatives to celebrate the achievements they have accomplished together.
It was a moment to express gratitude to the companies that placed their trust in Caproin when it was just an emerging dream.

Some of its clients and representatives also attended Caproin’s anniversary.
The event also served as an opportunity to recognize and congratulate the dedicated team—those who work every day with the mission of delivering comprehensive engineering solutions to Colombia’s manufacturing industry. Through their efforts, they make a significant contribution to the nation’s economy and progress.
After 40 years of bringing their vision to life, they can now say with confidence and pride that they are part of the country’s progress. Their commitment to the future is stronger than ever.
